Eco-Friendly Craft Ideas: Snow Globes
Create snow globes using your child’s old toys. For a more personalized feel you can use a laminated photo of your child and place it in the snow globe. Here is how to do it:
What You’ll Need:
- Synthetic evergreen tips
- Plastic or ceramic figurines
- Glass jar
- Oil-based enamel paint (optional)
- Clear-drying epoxy
- Laminated cut-out photo of your child (optional)
1) Sand the inside of the lid until the surface is rough. With clear-drying epoxy, adhere the figurine (and/or laminated photo) to the inside of the lid, and let the epoxy dry.
2)Fill the jar almost to the top with distilled water; add a pinch of glitter and a dash of glycerin (Probably at least 2-3 teaspoons per cup of water) to keep the glitter from falling too quickly. Don’t add too much, or the glitter will stick to the bottom of the jar when it’s flipped.
3)Screw on the lid tightly, being careful not to dislodge the figurine. Turn the jar over and back again — and let it snow.
